Celebrex No Prescription

What is Celebrex used for?

Celebrex is prescribed for the treatment of the pain or inflammation associated with conditions such as ankylosing spondylitis, menstrual pain, and arthritis.  Celebrex is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and reduces the hormones which result in pain and inflammation.  Celebrex has also been prescribed for treating polyps in the colon of a hereditary nature.

What are Celebrex side effects?

Side effects of Celebrex can include nervousness, blurred vision, diarrhea, gas, constipation, bloating, headaches, tinnitus, heartburn, skin rash or dizziness.  More serious side effects can include headache with severe rash; fever; weight gain; black stools; speech problems; vision problems; numbness; jaundice; nausea; abdominal pain; decrease in urination; weakness; chest pain; sore throat and coughing up blood.  You should contact your doctor if you experience any of these serious side effects.  If you experience any of the signs of an allergic reaction, you should get emergency help immediately.  These signs can include swelling of the face, mouth or tongue; trouble breathing; rash or hives.

What to know before taking Celebrex?

Taking Celebrex can increase the chance of heart attacks and strokes and the risks increase with prolonged use.  Celebrex also has an increase of stomach and intestine problems such as perforations or bleeding and these sometimes fatal problems could arise suddenly while taking this medication.  The risk of developing these gastrointestinal problems increases with age. Symptoms of stomach or intestinal bleeding include black or bloody stools; vomit which looks like coffee and coughing up blood and should be reported to your doctor at once.  Celebrex should not be taken by pregnant women as it could be harmful to the unborn child.  There is also a risk that this could pass to a nursing infant through the breastfeeding mother so should not be taken while breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor. Do not take Celebrex if you are allergic to sulfa drugs, any other NSAIDs or aspirin.  Inform your doctor if you have conditions such as asthma; kidney or liver disease; stomach ulcers; hypertension; history of stroke, or blood clot; epilepsy; blood clotting or bleeding disorder; heart disease or polyps in the nose as you may need to have a dose adjustment.

What is the Celebrex dosage?

You should take Celebrex as directed by your doctor.  Only take the amount of Celebrex that has been prescribed by your doctor and do not take it for longer than the recommended course.  Dosage depends on the individual and the condition being treated.  The usual dose for treating pain in adults is 200mg twice per day but 400mg may be given at the first dose.  A lesser dose may be prescribed for treating Ankylosing spondylitis and a higher dose may be given for the treatment of intestinal polyps.  For children doses must be recommended by a doctor in all cases. Celebrex should be taken with milk or food to avoid an upset stomach.  The capsules can be opened and mixed with applesauce to allow for easier swallowing.  The applesauce mixture should be swallowed with water.

What are the Celebrex interactions?

Celebrex can interact with certain drugs such as Paroxetine, Venlafaxine, Duloxetine, Olmesartan, Warfarin, Lithium, Furosemide, Fluconazole, Quinapril, Captopril and Moexipril.  There may be other drugs which could interact with Celebrex so it is recommended that you inform your doctor of all medication which you take including any pain killers, herbal products or vitamins.

What should I avoid while taking Celebrex?

Celebrex can cause stomach bleeding which can be increased if taken with alcohol so it is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption when taking Celebrex. Any other pain medication taken should be checked with a pharmacist before taking as it could contain substances similar to those in Celebrex which could result in an overdose.  As Celebrex can increase your sensitivity to sunlight you should avoid being exposed to artificial UV rays and to sunlight.  If you are going out in the sun you should make sure to use a high factor sunscreen and if possible wear protective clothing.
