What to know before taking Phenergan?
Phenergan should not be given to children under the age of two years as it has been linked to severe breathing problems and death in children under two years of age. If you have conditions such as emphysema or asthma or if you have ever had an allergic reaction to medications such as Prochlorperazine, Chlorpromazine, Thioridazine, Fluphenazine or Trifluoperazine, you should not take Phenergan. You may need to have tests to determine a safe dosage of Phenergan if you have conditions such as sleep apnea; enlarged prostate; glaucoma; history of hypertension; kidney disease, severe asthma; depression; urination problems; liver disease; hypocalcaemia; or a stomach ulcer.
What is the Phenergan dosage?
You should take Phenergan as directed by your doctor. Only take the amount of Phenergan that has been prescribed by your doctor and do not take it for longer than the recommended course. Dosage will vary from person to person depending on the type of medication prescribed, the form of medication and the condition being treated. The dosage of Phenergan for adults varies from 8-50mg four times per day. Dosage for children over the age of two years is based on body weight. It can be taken either with food or milk or without.
What are the Phenergan interactions?
Phenergan may interact with certain drugs such as Tranylcypromine, Guanethidine, Oxybutynin, Dimenhydrinate, Hyoscyamine, Lithium, Phenelzine, Propantheline, Dicyclomine, and Solifenacin. There may also be other drugs which could interact with Phenergan so it is advisable to inform your doctor of any other medication you might be taking including vitamins, over the counter pain killers and herbal products.
What should I avoid while taking Phenergan?
