Zyban No Prescription
What is Zyban used for?
Zyban is prescribed for helping people to stop smoking and works by helping to reduce withdrawal symptoms such as cravings. It can also be prescribed to treat seasonal affective disorder and other major depressive disorders.
What are Zyban side effects?
Side effects of Zyban can include change in weight, increase in perspiration, insomnia, constipation, minor itching, headaches, dry mouth, nausea, loss of libido, vomiting, tremors and dizziness. More serious side effects can include confusion, swollen glands, hallucinations, blistering skin rash, seizure, difficulty concentrating and joint pain. You should contact your doctor if you experience any of these serious side effects. If you experience any of the signs of an allergic reaction, you should get emergency help immediately. These signs can include swelling of the face, mouth or tongue; trouble breathing; rash or hives.
What to know before taking Zyban?
You should not take Zyban with an MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitor) as it could cause serious side effects. Make sure you wait for at least two weeks before taking Zyban, if you have been taking an MAOI to ensure that it has completely left your system. Zyban can cause suicidal thoughts especially when taken by those under the age of 24. If you have conditions such as epilepsy, bulimia, anorexia or a seizure disorder, you should not take Zyban. Patients with conditions such as history of heart attacks; liver disease; bipolar disorder; history of head injuries; hypertension; liver disease; tumor of the spinal cord or brain or seizures, may need to be tested to ensure they are getting a safe dose of Zyban. Zyban should not be taken by breast feeding women as it could pass through the breast milk and cause harm to the nursing child. This medication should not be taken by children under the age of 18 unless on the instruction of a doctor.
What is the Zyban dosage?
You should take Zyban as directed by your doctor. Only take the amount of Zyban that has been prescribed by your doctor and do not take it for longer than the recommended course. Dosage will vary from person to person. The usual dose of Zyban for treating adults with mental depression is 150mg once per day normally in the mornings. This dose can be increased by your doctor if necessary but not more than 450mg per day is usually prescribed. For use for aiding people in giving up smoking, the maximum dose is no more than 150mg twice per day. Zyban can be taken with food or without. It is advisable to continue smoking for one week after you start taking this medication as by the second week you will have a sufficient amount of the medication in your system to enable you to effectively quit. Zyban should not be stopped suddenly as you could experience withdrawal symptoms.
What are the Zyban interactions?
Zyban may interact with certain drugs such as birth control pills; bronchodilators; Flecainide; Thiotepa; Metoprolol; Adderall; Propafenone; Cyclophosphamide; Penicillin; Diazepam and Prednisone. There may also be other drugs which could interact with Zyban so it is advisable to inform your doctor of any other medication you might be taking including vitamins, over the counter pain killers and herbal products.
What should I avoid while taking Zyban?
Taking Zyban with alcohol could increase side effects so it is advisable to avoid alcohol. Make sure not to take any other medication which contains similar ingredients as Zyban as too much could increase the risk of seizures.
