Cipro No Prescription

Cipro No Prescription

What is Cipro used for?

Cipro is prescribed for the treatment of bacterial infections such as cystitis in women; bronchitis; typhoid fever; gonorrhea; tuberculosis; infectious diarrhea and ear infections.  It is part of a group of antibiotics called fluroquinolones and fights the bacteria in the body which cause these infections.  Cipro stops the body producing proteins which bacteria needs to live in the body.

What are Cipro side effects?

Side effects of Cipro can include insomnia, drowsiness, vomiting, blurred vision, nervousness, nausea, anxiety, dizziness and agitation.  More serious side effects can include jaundice; convulsions; confusion; watery or bloody diarrhea; swollen joints; tingling; sore throat; fever; skin rash; weakness; bruising or bleeding easily; hallucinations; decrease in urination and numbness. You should contact your doctor if you experience any of these serious side effects.  If you experience any of the signs of an allergic reaction, you should get emergency help immediately.  These signs can include swelling of the face, mouth or tongue; trouble breathing; rash or hives.

What to know before taking Cipro?

You should not eat or drink dairy products while taking Cipro unless it is part of a meal as they can reduce the effectiveness of your medication.  Do not take Cipro if you are allergic to Ciprofloxin or antibiotics which are similar to this.  You should tell your doctor if you have conditions such as diabetes, liver disease, myasthenia, joint problems, kidney disease or hypokalemia as you may need to have your dose adjusted.  Swelling of tendons can occur when taking Cipro especially in people over the age of 60 or those on steroid medicines.

What is the Cipro dosage?

You should take Cipro as directed by your doctor.  Only take the amount of Cipro that has been prescribed by your doctor and do not take it for longer than the recommended course.  Dosage of Cipro is different for each individual.  The usual dosage for adults is 500 – 1000mg per day and is usually taken from three to 14 days according to the condition being treated.  Cipro should not be taken by anyone under the age of 18.  Cipro should be taken with a full glass of water and you should make sure to drink extra water while taking this medication.  Swallow the tablets whole and do not break, chew or crush them as these tablets are intended to be slowly released into the system. Any tampering with tablets could cause an excess of medication to be taken at one time.  Cipro should be taken at the same time every day.

What are the Cipro interactions?

Cipro can interact with certain drugs such as Warfarin, Cyclosporine, Tizanidine, Probenecid, Methotrexate, Phenytoin, Clozapine, Tacrine, Theophlline, Dexamethasone, and Prednisone.  There may be other drugs which could interact with Cipro so it is important to inform your doctor of all medication you are taking including any over the counter products such as pain killers, herbal products or vitamins.

What should I avoid while taking Cipro?

Antacids should not be taken up to 6 hours before taking Cipro or up to 2 hours after as they can reduce the effectiveness of your medication.  You should avoid caffeine when you are taking Cipro as it can increase the effects of caffeine.  Vitamins which contain iron, calcium or zinc should be avoided.  As Cipro can increase sensitivity to sunlight you should try to avoid excessive exposure to the sun or sun beds.
