The dosage prescribed will be specific to each person depending on the strength of the medication and the condition being treated.  Average doses vary from 25-50mg per dose up to a maximum of 500mg per day. Dosage may have to be changed over weeks or months in order to get the best dose for you. Lamictal should be taken with water and can be taken with food or without.

What are the Lamictal interactions?

Certain drugs may interact with Lamictal including birth control pills which lessen the effectiveness of Lamictal. Other drugs which are known to interact with Lamictal include Carbamazipine, Phenytoin; Oxcarbazepine; Divalproex; Primidone Rifampin and Valporic acid. Some other drugs may also interact with Lamictal so it is important to advise your doctor of any other products you might be taking including herbal medication, over the counter pain killers and vitamins or supplements.
