Lisinopril No Prescription

What is Lisinopril used for?

Lisinopril is prescribed for the treatment of congestive heart failure, hypertension and for immediate treatment to boost survival after a heart attack.  Lisinopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor which works by blocking the enzyme which causes blood vessels to constrict.  By doing this, Lisinopril aids the relaxation of the blood vessels which in turn lowers blood pressure.

What are Lisinopril side effects?

Side effects of Lisinopril can include vomiting, minor skin rash, cough, drowsiness, vomiting, headaches, diarrhea and dizziness.  More serious side effects can include chest pain, change in urination, muscle weakness, quick weight gain, fever, light headedness, fatigue, palpitations or flu symptoms.  You should contact your doctor if you experience any of these serious side effects.  If you experience any of the signs of an allergic reaction, you should get emergency help immediately.  These signs can include swelling of the face, mouth or tongue; trouble breathing; rash or hives.

What to know before taking Lisinopril?

Lisinopril should not be taken by pregnant women as it can cause harm to the unborn child.  You should tell your doctor before taking Lisinopril, if you have conditions such as diabetes, liver disease, heart disease, Marfan syndrome, kidney disease or Sjorgren’s syndrome as you might need to have your dose altered. Make sure to tell your surgeon in advance that you are taking Lisinopril, if you require surgery.

What is the Lisinopril dosage?

You should take Lisinopril as directed by your doctor.  Only take the amount of Lisinopril that has been prescribed by your doctor and do not take it for longer than the recommended course.  Dosage will vary from person to person. The normal dosage for adults being treated for heart failure is 5-20mg once per day.  For the treatment of hypertension, the dose for adults is 10-40mg one time per day.  Lisinopril can be taken either with food or without.

What are the Lisinopril interactions?

Lisinopril may interact with certain drugs such as Aurothioglucose, Insulin, Aspirin, Diuretics and gold injections.  There may also be other drugs which could interact with Lisinopril so it is advisable to inform your doctor of any other medication you might be taking including vitamins, over the counter pain killers and herbal products.

What should I avoid while taking Lisinopril?

Taking Lisinopril with alcohol could increase side effects and can lower blood pressure so it is advisable to avoid alcohol.  Do not use potassium or salt supplements unless on the advice of your doctor.
