Doses for children from age three to 12 are dependent on body weight. This is usually 10-15mg per kilo of body weight, to begin with, each day split into three different doses. This can be increased if needed. You should not stop taking Neurontin suddenly as this can result in withdrawal symptoms. This medication needs to be reduced gradually by your doctor.
What are the Neurontin interactions?
Certain drugs may interact with Neurontin including Naproxen, Morphine and Hydrocodone. Some other drugs may also interact with Neurontin so it is important to advise your doctor of any other products you might be taking including herbal medication, over the counter pain killers and vitamins or supplements.
What should I avoid while taking Neurontin?
Your doctor will advise you of any food or drinks to avoid while taking Neurontin. You should take extra care when partaking in any activities which require alertness as Neurontin can cause impaired reactions or impaired vision. Avoid taking antacids two hours either side of taking your Neurontin medication as the antacids can lessen the body’s ability to absorb Neurontin.
